  1. Thank you for the sample newsletter. The newsletter shows the top 200 stocks. If I own a stock that is not in the top 200 list, does that mean I should not hold it?

    • Bill Gunderson June 18, 2013 at 4:00 PM

I wish it was that easy. But, unfortunately it is not. I take a lot of other things into account. Risk Profile, Tax consequences, the chart, etc. I think if you read my newsletter every week, you will get a good feel for how I operate. Having said that. If I owned a stocks that was ranked below number 500, I would have to have a good reason to hold onto it. It is best to own the Best Stocks Now.’

Hi Bill. Thanks for all you do. I never miss your show. I saw your rank on Delphi and I have heard you say we can always throw a stock at you. Check out SMP. It has beaten Delphi by over 100% in the last year. I wonder though if you would call the chart for SMP “parabolic”. I know you don’t like that. Hope to hear from you soon. Bill, thanks for the work you do. I wish our government was as transparent as you.

    • Bill Gunderson June 14, 2013 at 3:55 PM

I like them both. As long as they continue to ride their trendlines they are fine. They are both getting long in the tooth, however. A short leash is in order. The Auto Sector has been red hot. Also check out LKQ (it looks like an imminent breakout) and TEN.

  3. Man, you guys keep saying “best stocks now” but ALL you do is talk about the best-performers of yesterday!

Past performance is not a predictor of future results.

    • Bill Gunderson June 10, 2013 at 4:13 PM

Who has a better chance at the plate a .330 hitter with 42 homeruns or a utility .189 hitter with 0 homeruns? Past performance does matter. In addition to this, valuation and growth expectations are a good predictor of the future value of a stock. Value is the OTHER half of the equation. Once you find performance and value, take a good look at the stock chart.

      Glad you enjoy my show!

  4. Bill;

Stocks such as WXS used to show up but now don’t. Can you research – I’m sure others may be dropping as well.

Also – still waiting for the promised historical BSN data. I’ve got a yr subscription, I’m committed, and would appreciate some follow up.

    Thx

  5. Bill,

First of all, I love your commentary and analysis. You are spot on about most everything you communicate about. I listen to you on AM 1570 in Minneapolis most mornings as I drive to work.

One _big_ favor to ask however. Please differentiate between physical possession of Ag/Au versus the imagined possession of these precious metals via some symbol on some exchange. You are too smart and experienced to omit the difference.

Please consider using your industry experience and analytical skills to dig into the demands for physical possession of these precious metals for presentation to your loyal listeners and followers. Thanks for considering this. Overall, you rock.

I am looking for your support page. I purchased 3200+ for 1 month on 5/3, and it ended my subscription today, 5/5.

  7. On the radio show you said you don’t have time to take live callers. The reason for this is you talk to the audience like we are sixth graders and you talk too SLOW. Speed it up.

    • Bill Gunderson May 1, 2013 at 10:45 AM

thanks for the advice. I hope that you were listening when I featured Regeneron (REGN) again the other day. It is the biggest winner in the market today. Clients of Gunderson Capital Mgt. are still long the stock.

  8. How did NVAX go from #10 to 2,277 overnight? It was an A rated stock when I checked the app multiple times during the last few days. Now it is a C.

    • Bill Gunderson April 27, 2013 at 3:15 PM

I have a hunch that it was bad data from our data vendor. This happend occassionally. Always look at a chart.

  9. Just purchased one year newsletter subscription. How to I access archives. I did not establish password when purchase was made, but I’m being asked to provide password to access newsletter. Am I supposed to receive a confirmation email? Haven’t received one yet.

  10. Bill – over a month ago I requested historical BSN data so I could backtest and analyze. You were going to provide this in Excel format.

    Any updates on this?

  11. 4-17-13 doesn’t appear that rankings have been updated yesterday. Some stocks haven’t been updated for several days.

  12. How do I access the newsletter archives? When I click on it I get a screen asking for a password.

  13. Dear Bill’s Tech Support: Sat, 4-6-13, 3:30 PM, on the APP for which I have a 6 months subscription for my ipod, the “About Best Stocks Now” and every other page either does not open or refers me to CISCO Gust Access and asks for a password, and directs: “Ask the powner if you do not have a password.” I was preparing to do some serious comparisons and research so am interested in doing whatever I can to appease the boss at Apple or whomever is generating this problem. I listen and review the APP daily. Thank you for your help. Go biotech. Sincerely, Liv

    • Bill Gunderson April 6, 2013 at 4:28 PM

Liv, I just tried everything on my app and it works fine. I have an iPhone. Maybe the Cisco Ghosts have haunted your iPod? I know that Cisco (CSCO) is not happy with the grade that the Best Stocks Now app gives it :)

  14. Bill I have your app on my IPhone I love the concept that your have put together. I see a lot of the stock rankings missing 1 thru 100 a lot of the numbers are missing example 1 thru 6 is missing #7 MIDD is the highest stock listed. Am I missing something. Thanks for your help. Do I need to purchase the next level up?

  15. Mr. Gunderson,
On one of you radio show you mentioned something about the TSP(aka the government 401k) program but I didn’t catch much of it because I was just driving across base at the time.

What strategy ( percentages in what fund and entry/exit points as it relates to your best stock now app) should I follow with the C fund, S fund, I fund, and G fund with the current monthly intra fund trade limits.

    Very Respectfully,
    Robert

    • Robert, I now have a very basic 401-k model portfolio that I publish every week. It should match up very close with your TSP options.

  16. Barry B. Campbell, MD October 30, 2012 at 4:34 PM

    Bill,
What about homebuilder and commercial builder stocks in aftermath of Sandy. May be appropriate in my 401(k) as well ??

  17. Bill,

Any update on the Windows version of the Best Stock Now app ?

    Thanks,
    Jim

    • We just finished a major upgrade to the Apple version of the app. Now we will focus on the PC version. We are not working on a Windows mobile version as there are not enough devices out there to warrant it.

      Bill Gunderson

      • Bill,
Do you changed your radio time? I miss your talk on morning 7-8.

        Thanks!
        Danning

        • I have parted ways once again with the Astor Broadcast Group. My show is now in Honolulu, San Francisco, Seattle, St.Paul/Minneappolis, Orland, and Atlanta. The San Diego station has a very weak signal and is ineffective. You can listen to the show here in San Diego on Tune In Radio or my website. I also archive the show every day on itunes and my website.

  18. Will you consider adding pcrx (Pacira Pharmaceuticals Inc) to your database.

  19. please e-mail me 9/15/12 newsletter

  20. Sprint (S) has been on a tear lately, yet I don’t see it in the Top 200; where does it rank, and do you have any thoughts on it?

    • Sprint is losing money out the kazoo and has a poor intermediate term and long term track record. In addition to this it was down 86% in 2008! Other than that it is a dandy! :) Sprint is ranked 1,386 out of 2,871 stocks. Run from it!

  21. Bill, I look forward to your newsletter every Saturday. MY question is assuming that the Fed makes a move this Fall, as it appears to be expected, is this already built into the current market?…if so, after the announcement would the market then sell off if the “wisper number” is not met?

    • Bill Gunderson August 7, 2012 at 4:16 PM

I try not to predict what the fed might do in the future. I just invest in the best stocks now and take it one day at a time. You can drive yourself craze doing all of the “what if’s”

  22. Andrew Shumaker July 10, 2012 at 2:17 PM

    Hi Bill,

If I’m not mistaken, BSN Generac sneaked into A+ on wrong momentum data.

Just love BSN. It’s my go-to reality checker. What a prize app!

    Thanks a lot, Andy

  23. Hi Bill. Is it possible to add the “B” shares of Brown-Foreman (BF-B) to your app? It currently shows the “A” class (BF-A) which I think can’t be traded. Months ago you mentioned this was a “Jed Clampett” economy, hence the popularity of DLTR, AZO, RGR, etc. That revelation was an eye opener. Well I think BF-B would go with that theme-it’s a WHISKEY stock. Thanks always for your advice!

    • Bill Gunderson June 9, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Carlos, I changed it to the A shares. It has exactly the same record. Stay away from that Moonshine!

  24. What happened to BOM? it was ranked #1, but now it isn’t even on your radar/list of stocks.

    • Bill Gunderson June 9, 2012 at 12:21 PM

I dont like the fact that it only has $11 million in assets and trades so thinly. I would hate to see someone get caught by this. It has had great performance, however.

  25. Andrew Shumaker May 14, 2012 at 1:57 PM

SMDD is showing as #1 A+ stock on Gunderson paid app on my iPhone 4S, but entry shows no details and says not covered by Gunderson. Please advise. Thanks, Andy

    • Bill Gunderson May 15, 2012 at 10:15 AM

Andrew, SMDD, along with several other reverse ETFS did a 1:4 split last week. That really screws up the historic returns for a day or two until our data vendor adjusts their data. It should be noted however that 6 inverse ETFS are now A- grade.

  26. I contacted you before but never followed up, regrettably . I bought Aapl in late may got scared, and dumped the day before its quarterly earnings came out and then it shot up huge. So I decided to buy it again(on margin)few grand worth, and I am committed to buying and holding no matter what. I also own some shares of PII & RGR. What do you like so much about TSCO.
I appreciate any insight by you Mr.Gunderson.!!

    • Bill Gunderson May 6, 2012 at 9:00 AM

Ted, my phone number is (760)736-8258. I carry my cell wherever I go. Besides, it has my Best Stocks Now App on it. I could not be without it. You only mention four stocks that you own. I try to own 25 at a time. Tractor Supply is the number one stock in my system. It has been in the top 100 for almost two years now. Now go find 24 more just like it and watch them all very closely on a daily basis.

  27. What days and what times are your shows on the radio please?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  28. Please advise what days and times you can be found on the radio.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  29. I bought your best stocks now app and even though I trust your opinion I must say I cant see how you came up with an F valuation on some stocks e.g.ADM. Also, DWA is not in the drug sector.

    • Bill Gunderson April 9, 2012 at 10:47 AM

the bottom line grade on ADM is C not F. I corrected the sector on Dreamworks. It is best to focus on the huge winners that the app has produced as opposed to arguing about lousy stocks like ADM and the one or two mistakes out thousands of data entries. :)

  30. Guy Bartleson April 6, 2012 at 7:51 AM

Bill- In your newsletter you say that you do not have any exposure to Bonds at this time. I noticed however that you are recommending a 30% exposure in my 401 k. What am I missing?
    Guy

    • Bill Gunderson April 7, 2012 at 8:35 AM

Guy, most 401k’s have very limited selections available. I have no bond exposure in my model portfolios. If somenone is nearing retirement and has a limited amount of choices in their 401k at work, I have to recommend the very best allocation that I can, given the limited choices.

  31. Bill — the stocks in your A grades are really shining today– despite the market being down. Thanks for sharing your logical system so unselfishly!! Mel

  32. The best stock app should be available for the #2 tablet – Amazon Fire.

  33. Hello Bill, currently subscribing to your iphone best stocks app. Would consider keeping it permanently(or possibly your newsletter) if I would have access to any “sell now” alerts that you may advise. Alerts via the iphone Best Stocks app or even an email from you would be great. Don’t want to wait possibly a whole week to get your next newsletter to find out if I should sell.
Also would love to see on your Iphone Best Stocks App a category that more heavily weighs safety, ie best safe stocks?
Have learned a lot from your radio show and have made lots of money. Thanks, Hugo

    • Dont have time to do sell alerts. If you are managing your own money, that is your call. I dont sell very often. I am happy with current weighting on safety. See 2008 return and my safety grade

      BG

      • Mr.Bill If we have your app and a stock we bought an A+,A or A- drops down to a B+ or lower would that be used an a sign to sell? Then put another A+ stock in place of the other one? I also am thinking of getting your app, but I have to get something first that can use the download. I guess I need to buy a note pad or something. What do you recommend? FYI I only need something for the app only and do not have a smart phone, nor want a smart phone my calls great, lol. Which format is best anndroid vs apple for the app or do they both offer the exact same thing?

  34. Some of us pay attention ;) your recording below seems wrong?

Tuesday, February 21st – Home Depot (HD) analysis. Winmark (WINA) analysis. WP Carey (WPC) analysis. Wal-Mart (WMT) analysis.

  35. How do you derive your “safety grade” rating? I do not understand your D+ rating on Apple.

    • Garret, consider that Apple was down a whopping 56.9% in 2008. An investor has to have a strong stomach to withstand that kind of volatility. Volatility has a lot to do with my safety grades.

  36. Can’t find LNG on Best Stocks now app. What is best play on liquid gas in US Canada this week coming up?

    • John, I will add LNG to list. Look up my story on GLNG on Seeking Alpha. I dont know if it will do well this week, but I believe it has a lot of potential over the next several years. I also like HEK which is a play on the fracking of the shale to get to the gas. I am long.

  37. Bill, I remain impressed with overall performance of your analysis and down to earth talk about various subjects. Lenny is really good at working radio show with you as well. If I throw my assets in with your firm, what do you recommend for transition purposes (i.e. Schwab, Scottrade, Ameritrade, Fidelity, etc.) Am seriously considering mobile (probably iPhone) hookup as well.

  38. Question on newsletter..why do some stocks not make it to the featured stock section and go straight to model portfolio? It seems most do hit your featured stock first, couple of examples I see are CRR didn’t make featured stock section. Thanks great newsletter and seriously thinking of joining as the pricing is right on!

  39. Bill, spot on article in the LA Business Journal on the President’s Jobs Commission. I personally think that Jeff Immelt and for that matter Jack Welch are way overrated. GE has been dead money for quite sometime.

I know you are bullish on the Bakken oil shale deposit. What do you think of the news coming out of the Macellus Shale natural gas deposit in the northeast and the companies that have a stake in exploiting that, for instance CHK, RRC, ATN.

  40. Great show on bloomberg!
